Polar plunger

Minooka resident Carl Fowler, an overhead transmission operations coordinator, was the top fundraiser for ComEd during the 13th annual Polar Plunge fundraiser for Special Olympics Chicago.

Fowler raised $4,565.

Some 250 free-spirited ComEd employees took the plunge at Chicago’s North Avenue Beach. ComEd employees raised more than $55,000 for this year’s event, including ComEd’s sponsorship of $10,000.

Also, employees of ComEd’s parent company, Exelon, will have their donations matched dollar for dollar, up to $5,000, by Exelon.

Ovation award

State Rep. Tom Cross, R-Oswego, and his Ovation to Business Advisory Committee presented his monthly Ovation to Business Award to the Plainfield Moose Family Center for its community service and support of civic and charitable causes.

“It is a privilege to accept this award on behalf of our members and all our community partners,” said Chris Bell, administrator of the Plainfield center.
