The confusion over reduced weight limits on the Route 6 bridge over Interstate 55 has cost the county thousands of dollars in uncollectable fines. So far, the county has given up $32,747 in fines from overweight trucks that were ticketed after the overpass’s weight limit was reduced to 19 tons. State police also had tickets dropped that they issued for overweight vehicles on the bridge.
