Rebate checks mailed out in New Lenox

New Lenox homeowners who filed an application for a property tax refund should have received their checks.
Trustee Keith Madsen said the village mailed out 5,465 checks. The total rebate came to $772,255.89 from the 2011 property taxes that were paid in 2012, finance director Kim Auchstetter said. The rebates represented 55 percent of the village portion that had been collected.
Those who applied by the deadline and have not received a rebate check should contact village hall.
