PLAINFIELD — Police said four people were arrested for drunk driving during traffic enforcement efforts on St. Patrick’s Day.
According to reports, three of those arrests occurred after midnight.
In addition, 69 seat belt tickets were written, 43 of which occurred during nighttime hours, police said.
Cops: Man attacked police
BOLINGBROOK — A man already facing battery and assault charges allegedly attacked two police officers Saturday night.
Lt. Mike Rompa said police were called around 11:25 p.m. to Ashbury’s Restaurant, 335 E. Boughton Road, where “intoxicated” people were fighting outside.
Police arrived to find a large group in the parking lot with Anthony Segura, 25, bleeding on the ground, Rompa said.
Segura became confrontational and refused to put his hands on a nearby car when asked by police, Rompa said. He removed his hands “numerous times” and approached as if he was going to strike an officer, Rompa said.
Police arrested Segura and, Rompa said, as he was brought to the squad car he became violent again and tried kicking another officer.
Segura, of 590 Miner Drive, was booked into the county jail on charges of aggravated battery and aggravated assault.
Those charges are identical to what Segura faces from an alleged confrontation in a restaurant parking lot on Nov. 29.
Around 2:10 a.m. Segura was at Denny’s, 126 Northeast Frontage Road, when he struck a 24-year-old Joliet woman then “picked her up and slammed her on the pavement,” Rompa said.
The victim suffered a broken tibia, fibula and dislocated ankle, according to reports.
Parolee faces drug charges
JOLIET — Police reportedly found a parolee carrying cocaine and marijuana Friday night.
Around 9:45 p.m. tactical officers were near Morgan and Dewey streets when they saw Dontee J. Green, 21, walking in the middle of the street, Cmdr. Al Roechner said.
“The officers recognized Green and knew he was on parole and as they approached him, they smelled the odor of burnt cannabis,” Roechner said.
Green allegedly admitted having “a blunt” in his pocket and an officer found bags containing 2.5 grams of marijuana while arresting him. While Green was being booked, police found a bag with 7 grams of cocaine “in the middle of a bundle of currency”, Roechner said.
Green, of 1115 Sterling Ave., was booked into the county jail on charges of delivery of drugs and marijuana possession. Records show he is currently on parole for drug possession and attempted robbery.
Bonding gone awry
JOLIET — Police say a night of father-son bonding ended badly Saturday when an intoxicated man shot out a window.
Cmdr. Al Roechner said a 26-year-old man called police at 12:30 a.m. to 2103 Wesmere Lakes Drive.
“He and his father, Richard E. Long, 53, had gone out drinking, but he’d had to bring Long home when he got out of hand,” Roechner said.
Long was taken to a bedroom and kept yelling for his wife to come upstairs, Roechner said.
“When she wouldn’t go up, they heard (Long) punching the walls before he fired a shot that went through a bedroom window,” Roechner said.
Long’s son went upstairs and took the gun before calling police, Roechner said. Long was booked into the county jail on a charge of reckless discharge of a firearm.
