JOLIET — A small fire started in a vacant home early Thursday.
Lt. John Miller said the blaze was reported at 5:18 a.m. at a house in the 0 to 100 block of South Cagwin Avenue that was being rehabbed.
No one was injured. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
JOLIET — The Will County Cooperative Police Assistance Team raided two alleged drug dealing houses in unrelated cases last week.
Director Wayne Ladd said an investigation that started earlier this month on Brenda Patterson, 51, led to a search warrant for 1707 Dearborn St. Ladd said CPAT agents and Joliet police searched the house around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday to find 240 grams of cocaine, 215 grams of marijuana and 332 hydrocodone pills. Police also seized $1,073 and Patterson was booked into the county jail on charges of delivery of drugs and delivery of marijuana.
Several recent undercover purchases of ecstasy led to Thursday’s search of 405 Second Avenue and the arrest of Joseph T. Wrobel, 21, Ladd said.
“We found drug paraphernalia throughout the house and an indoor marijuana grow operation with heat lamps up in the attic,” Ladd said.
CPAT reportedly seized five pot plants and arrested Wrobel on charges of delivery of drugs, production of cannabis plants and possession of drug paraphernalia.
