JOLIET — A 17-year-old was arrested after allegedly shooting at a creek Sunday.
Cmdr. Al Roechner said police were called at 1:20 p.m. after shots were reported near Second and Iowa avenues.
Witnesses described four young men leaving the area.
Roechner said officers saw the four at Mississippi and Grant avenues and searched them. Devarrius D. Thompson was carrying a handgun in his front pants pocket, Roechner said..
“The three men with him said they had all been standing in a line near the creek when Thompson took out the gun and fired into the water,” Roechner said.
Thompson, of 303 Edward St., was booked into the county jail on charges of reckless discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
