Flower and shrub sale
WILMINGTON TOWNSHIP —Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie is hosting a Native Wildflower and Shrub Sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at its headquarters on Route 53 about 12 miles south of Joliet and two miles north of Wilmington.

Joliet Central nabs grant
JOLIET — Joliet Central High School was one of 230 libraries in the state of Illinois to recently receive a FY2013 Back to Book Grant for the amount of $5,000, according to a news release.
Joliet Central librarian Gwen Thompson and teacher David Jones wrote the grant for graphic novels and audio books for use in the JCHS library and through the PrairieCat Consortium. Grant money also will be used to purchase art and illustration books to be checked out after art sessions.
JTHS band recognized
The “Strike up the Band: 100 Years of Joliet Township High School Bands” exhibit at the Joliet Area Historical Museum was recognized at the Illinois State Historical Society’s Annual Awards April 27, in Springfield.
The JTHS exhibit was one of four throughout the state recognized at the awards ceremony, and the content in the exhibit was recognized as being “Superior” by the ISHS.
Catholic Charities enrollment
