Plainfield Park District
budget up for review
A proposed spending plan for the Plainfield Township Park District is up for public review and calls for slashing $800,000 in spending, according to a press release.
A hearing and vote on the proposal is scheduled for July 24, according to the release.
“This budget is a first step to reverse the trend away from higher annual spending year after year,” Peter Hurtado, the board’s president, said in the release. “When so many of our neighbors and fellow taxpayers are struggling to make ends meet in this economy we feel compelled to do whatever we can to limit their tax burden. At the same time, we understand we exist to provide recreational and educational opportunities for our residents, young and old alike, and this budget keeps our programs intact and even includes new offerings.”
The proposed budget calls for about $10.4 million spending in the next fiscal year that starts July 1, compared to the curretnt budget that called for $11.2 million in spending, the release said.
