JOLIET — Police say three men were caught hiding fireworks at the bottom of a bag of stir-fry before they were arrested Tuesday.
Cmdr. Brian Benton said police received a complaint about noises from 1403 Dellmar Avenue on Monday and two on Tuesday. Officers reportedly encountered an “intoxicated and uncooperative” Jeffry G. Pacin, 44. Benton said a struggle ensued and Pacin’s 19-year-old son, Mitchell, attempted to intervene before they used pepper spray on the father. Kevin J. Cygan, 21, was then stopped while he was trying to leave the house with a bag, which Benton said contained fireworks.
Cygan, of 208 Whisper Lane in Shorewood, was charged with obstructing justice and possession of fireworks and booked into the jail. Jeffry Pacin was charged with possession of fireworks, obstructing a police officer and resisting arrest. Mitchell Pacin was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing a police officer and resisting arrest. Father and son were released on $150 bonds.
