Help for job seekers
People looking for work this summer might find some advice at one of the workshops the Workforce Services Division of Will County has scheduled in August.
The agency has released its workshop schedule:
Master Your Job Search, a sessioon on job search skills, 10:30 a.m. Aug. 6, and 2 p.m. Aug. 21.
Choosing a New Career, 2 p.m. Aug. 7 and Aug. 20.
Successful Interviewing, help with preparing for an interview and includes a chance to record a mock interview after the workshop, 10: 30 a.m. Aug. 13 and 2 p.m. Aug. 28.
Stand Out Resumes, resume basics, and includes a chance to have your resume reviewied, 10:30 a.m. Aug. 14, 2 p.m. Aug. 27.
Networking Your Way to a New Job, includes tips on using social media for networking, 1:30 p.m. Aug. 15.
Workshops are held at the JJC City Center Campus, fourth floor, 214 N. Ottawa St. No cost to Will County residents.

Affordable Care Act explained
The White Oak Library District has programs scheduled aimed at explaining the national Affordable Care Act.
The “Understanding the Affordable Care Act” program is scheduled from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 6, at the Gaylord Building, 200 W. Eighth St., Lockport. A Blue Cross and Blue Shield representative is scheduled to speak about the new law, according to a press release.
The “New Health Care Reform Act: What Every Medicare Beneficiary Should Know” program is set from 2 to 3 p.m. on Aug. 29 at the Romeoville Branch Library, 201 W. Normantown Road, Romeoville. The program also features a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois representative and is aimed at people older than age 65.
