The company that bought the assets of Rand’s Hallmark stores in late June says it still plans to reopen most if not all stores.
None of the six stores has reopened, and remaining merchandise has been cleared out of the store in the Hillcrest Shopping Center in Crest Hill.
“I think we had to clear out inventory from all the stores,” said Laura Sievert, marketing director for Kirlin’s Hallmark. “We’re not going to open up with old merchandise.”
Sievert said reopening dates have not been set for any stores because the company continues to work on leases with the landlords.
“It’s looking positive,” she said. “I think most of those stores are going to reopen. I don’t know which or when.”
Quincy-based Kirlin’s has 89 Hallmark stores in 10 Midwestern states.
Kirlin’s acquired the assets of Rand’s Hallmark on June 28.
Rand’s Hallmark had 18 stores at its peak. The six remaining stores also included locations in Frankfort, Homer Township, Orland Hills, Oswego and Tinley Park.
