A candidate who in April lost his bid for a seat on the Minooka Community Consolidated School District 201 Board has been appointed to complete the unexpired term of a member who resigned.
John Clucas was sworn in Aug. 21, replacing Kathe Brozman, who tendered her resignation to the board during a special meeting earlier this month. Reached by telephone, Brozman declined to comment on her resignation.
Clucas was hoping to garner a seat on the District 201 board when he ran against four others, including two incumbents, in April. Although disappointed he wasn’t voted in, he’s happy to get a chance to serve, he said.
“I think it’s great. I am looking forward to it,” he said.
Clucas has experience with the district. He had an internship in business management at District 201 while completing a master’s degree in education administration. He also was on the district’s finance committee for six years and assisted in the update of the district’s policy manual while on the education committee.
“We have a lot of progressive things that are happening. The board is doing a great job with the money they have been given,” Clucas said. “I hope to fit in with this group.”
