JOLIET — A 46-year-old Pembroke Township man left his dog locked in the car while he went gambling Monday night, police said.
Joliet Police Capt. Les O’Connor said the temperature was above 75 degrees when officers were called to the parking garage of Harrah’s Casino, 151 N. Joliet St., where a dog was locked inside a Nissan Maxima.
Animal control officers removed the dog before Willie C. Jones returned to the vehicle, O’Connor said.
Jones, of 13290 E. 2690 Road, was ticketed for cruelty to animals.
Watch allegedly swiped
BOLINGBROOK — Two teens broke into a house Tuesday morning to steal a watch, police said.
A resident of the 600 block of Derbyshire Lane called 911 at 9:42 a.m. after Alexis Garcia-Galvez, 18, repeatedly knocked on the front door and rang the doorbell, according to Bolingbrook Police Lt. Mike Rompa.
“Galvez then went to the back yard and the victim lost sight of him (before discovering) he was inside,” Rompa said.
The resident locked herself in an upstairs bedroom before police arrived to find a basement window open, Rompa said.
Galvez reportedly ran out and was chased by officers, as was a 17-year-old boy who was waiting in the yard, police said.
Garcia-Galvez, of 13 Fernwood Drive, was charged with residential burglary after a gold-colored watch was found with him, Rompa said. The 17-year-old was charged with criminal trespassing.
