Will County Sheriff’s Police are investigating a motorcycle accident that claimed the life of a 31-year-old Channahon man Sunday evening, the Will County Coroner’s Office said Monday.
Brian A. Elsinga was pronounced dead at 8:23 p.m. Sunday at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, the coroner’s office said.
His motorcycle had left the roadway and overturned on Front Street, three-quarters of mile west of Frontage Road in Channahon Township, the coroner’s office said.
Mr. Elsinga was “a best friend” to many people, his father, Robert Elsinga, said Monday.
Mr. Elsinga grew up in Mokena. He graduated from Lincoln-Way High School in 2000, his father said. He worked as a crane operator and was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150, his father said.
“He’s been riding motorcycles for about six years. He not only had his own motorcycle, but he took them apart and rebuilt them,” Robert Elsinga said.
The family is having a hard time coping with the loss of Mr. Elsinga, who was the youngest of three sons.
“It ain’t been easy, I tell you” Robert Elsinga said.
An autopsy was planned Monday, the coroner’s office said.
Arrangements are pending at Colonial Chapel, 15525 73rd Ave., Orland Park, Robert Elsinga said.
