CREST HILL — A Crest Hill man and a Joliet man face charges after guns were stolen Saturday from a Crest Hill auto body shop, police said.
Theopolies R. Sloan, 21, of 20500 Kingsbrook Drive, Crest Hill, was charged with two counts of burglary and one count of criminal trespassing. Christian D. Nelson, 19, of 1426 N. William St., Joliet, was charged with aggravated possession of stolen firearms. Both were booked into the Will County jail.
Crest Hill Police Chief Dwayne Wilkerson said police were notified Saturday night “a suspicious person” had been seen near Pasadena Avenue, but the person left before officers arrived.
Police later learned a body shop in the 500 block of Pasadena had been burglarized about the same time. One handgun and one shotgun were stolen, Wilkerson said.
The crack in the burglary case came Tuesday when police were told the same “suspicious person” had returned to the area. Officers located Sloan and questioned him.
“He admitted breaking into the business and taking the guns,” Wilkerson said.
Wilkerson said officers found the guns in the home and car of “Sloan’s driver,” Nelson.
