BRAIDWOOD — A 10-year-old boy was shot with a pellet gun while biking home from school Tuesday, and an 18-year-old man has been charged in the incident, police said.
Shortly before 4:20 p.m., the victim and a friend were riding in the 500 block of North School Street when they passed a group of teenage boys shooting a plastic pellet gun, according to Braidwood Police Sgt. Bret Goodwin.
James F. Cichy, of 177 W. Cermak Road, was holding the gun and shot at the boy, striking him at least once in the leg, Goodwin said.
The boy went home to tell his parents, who called police. The boy was not hospitalized, Goodwin said.
Officers located Cichy and seized a pellet gun, and Cichy was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, police said.
