SHOREWOOD — A report of a woman lying in the bed of a pickup truck along Interstate 55 led police to find a wanted man Thursday, according to police.
Cmdr. Eric Allen said a concerned motorist called Illinois State Police about midnight when he saw a pickup with three men in the cab and an unconscious woman in the back on southbound I-55 near Illinois 126.
Allen said the registration for the truck was at a Shorewood address, and when police checked the area they spotted the truck at a gas station, 312 E. Jefferson St.
“It turned out the woman was fine, there was just no room in the cab,” Allen said.
But one of the occupants, John D. McDonough, 54, of Montgomery, was wanted on a Lake County warrant for driving on a suspended license and was arrested, Allen said.
Five busted on drug charge
CHANNAHON — Police say five Joliet men were arrested early Wednesday after a police officer observed them throw a package of PCP from their van.
Sgt. Jack Eubowski was on patrol about 1:30 a.m. when he saw a Chevrolet van speeding and drifting into other lanes on U.S. 6 near Manor Lane, according to Detective Adam Bogart.
“He began to follow the van and saw a silver packet being tossed out the passenger side,” Bogart said.
He said the driver pulled over upon seeing Eubowski’s car’s flashing lights, but then kept on driving until being stopped at the entrance of Hollywood Casino. The package was recovered by police, Bogart said.
The driver, John M. Adams, 25, of 1136 Cathy Drive, was charged with drug possession, fleeing police, speeding, no insurance and improper lane use.
Charged with drug possession were Adams’ passengers — Jarrell M. Luckey: 27, of 2101 Belmont Ave.; Jeremy J. Moffett: 28, of 505 Florence Ave.; Jevonte D. Moffett: 20, of 1302 Elizabeth St., and Ivan C. Moffett, 18, of 104 Fifth Ave., according to police. They said Jeremy Moffett was also charged with obstructing justice after initially giving a phony name to police.
