Quick News: Joliet West says door was set on fire

A door at Joliet West High School was set on fire Monday, but it was quickly extinguished an no on was hurt, according to a press release from the school district.
The incident took place in a “supervised staff office area,” the release said. A staff member extinguished the fire within seconds and called 9-1-1, notifying the Joliet Fire Department and local police, the release said.
The school was not evacuated due to the incident, according to the release.

Arrangements set for Parker
Funeral arrangements have been set for former Joliet Township basketball coach and Joliet Central and Joliet Junior College athletic director Ken Parker.
The wake is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles, 2320 Black Road, in Joliet.
The funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 Woodlawn Ave., in Joliet. Burial will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 Hoff Road, in Elwood.
Parker died Saturday at age 92.
Parker, who was born in Granite City, also was the sixth man on the University of Illinois “Whiz Kids” basketball team of the early 1940s.
