A Romeoville man accused of videotaping himself molesting a teenage boy also kept a child-size boy mannequin in his bed, prosecutors say.
Richard A. Gilsdorf, 26, of 787 Geneva Ave., also had dozens of pairs of boys’ underwear in his house, as well as a computer with downloaded child pornography, authorities said.
Gilsdorf faces six counts of child pornography and three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. He pleaded not guilty to the charges at a hearing on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Mary Fillipitch said in court that Indiana investigators tipped Will County authorities to an Internet address downloading porn. Authorities obtained a search warrant for the address, which was Gilsdorf’s house.
During the search, investigators found a bag containing various items including candy, Benadryl, a laptop and thumb drive and boy’s underwear, Fillipitch said.
Fillipitch also pointed out that the mannequin was dressed in Sonic the Hedgehog pajamas, and that Gilsdorf had Sonic the Hedgehog sheets on his bed.
Will County Judge Roger Rickmon set Gilsdorf’s bond at $1.5 million.
Authorities say the alleged victim identified himself and Gilsdorf on the video.
There may be another victim, Fillipitch said, and the case remains under investigation.
Gilsdorf is scheduled to appear in court again Oct. 15.
