Shorewood officials last week announced a change of venue for the “Rollin’ on the River” car show scheduled for Saturday due to falling nuts.
Acorns are falling from the oak trees at Little Coyote Park, at Route 59 and Bass Street, where the event was scheduled. Instead, the show featuring custom and classic cars will be moved to Four Seasons Park, Village Administrator Roger Barrowman said.
“I know I’m not parking my car under those acorns,” he said.
Mayor Rick Chapman said the last thing a car owner who has invested lots of money into their car is dent or chip from an acorn hitting it.
More than 100 cars are expected to arrive for the show.
The first 75 cars registered will receive a plaque, and awards and trophies will be given for Mayor’s Choice, Troy Fire Department’s Choice, Shorewood Police Department’s Choice and People’s Choice.
Car registration at a cost of $10 per car begins at 11 a.m. Saturday.
The show runs from noon to 4 p.m. and is free to the public.
Four Seasons Park is located on Seil Road west of River Road.
