A 40-year-old Monee man has been charged with aggravated drunken driving in connection with a crash Thursday near Frankfort that killed an 84-year-old Mokena man, authorities said.
The accident happened at 7:36 p.m. at LaGrange and Pauling roads, according to Illinois State Police.
John Wiesch, of 27165 S. Wildwood Drive, was driving a 2008 Ford F250 pickup truck east on Pauling Road when he went through a stop sign at LaGrange Road and hit a 2013 Toyota Avalon being driven by the 84-year-old man, police said.
The Will County coroner’s office identified the victim as William Slager. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:40 p.m., the coroner’s office said. A passenger in Slager’s vehicle was airlifted to an area hospital, police said.
Wiesch was taken to an area hospital and later released to police and taken to the Will County Jail, police said. He also was charged with disregarding a stop sign and no insurance.
Funeral arrangements for Slager were pending, according to the coroner’s office.
