JOLIET — A Joliet woman whose body was found in the yard of a house Thursday afternoon was murdered, according to police.
A passer-by spotted the body of Beatrice Orsborne, 47, at 5:10 p.m. in the side yard of a house that is being rehabbed in the 200 block of Richards Street, Lt. Brian Dupuis said.
An autopsy Friday determined the death to be a homicide, but Will County Coroner Patrick O’Neil declined to say how Orsborne was killed, citing the ongoing police investigation.
Orsborne was arrested in April for trespassing at the Joliet Housing Authority’s John Murphy Center, 311 Ottawa St., according to police. She was scheduled for a bench trial on that charge in November.
Will County sheriff’s police records show Osborne was arrested previously by Joliet police for drug possession, battery, domestic battery and loitering.
Dupuis said police have not identified any suspects in the killing and are asking that anyone with information as to Orsborne’s whereabouts prior to her death to call Joliet police at 815-724-3020 or to anonymously call CrimeStoppers at 800-323-6734. CrimeStoppers offers rewards of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.
