A Joliet truck driver accused of having sex with a young girl for almost 10 years has pleaded guilty to sex assault charges.
Jason D. Hagerstrom, 36, pleaded guilty Thursday to seven counts of predatory criminal sexual assault. He faces a minimum of 42 years in prison when he is sentenced Dec. 3, Will County State’s Attorney’s office spokesman Charles B. Pelkie said.
Hagerstrom has been held in the Will County jail in lieu of $5 million bail since his arrest Dec. 29.
Hagerstrom was arrested in December on domestic battery charges for reportedly punching a teenage girl during an argument at his Raynor Avenue residence.
While he was being held by police, a mother and her 17-year-old daughter came to the Joliet police station, where the teen told police she and Hagerstrom had a sexual relationship, authorities said. Hagerstrom confirmed the victim’s statement, authorities said.
Authorities say Hagerstrom had engaged in various types of sex acts with the girl starting when she was about 8 years old, and told police he’d made videos of the encounters.
According to reports, a cellphone seized from Hagerstrom during his arrest has videos of him and the girl having sex.
Records show Hagerstrom had no prior criminal history. He originally was charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, eight counts of criminal sexual assault and five counts of aggravated child pornography.
