A Plainfield man has been charged with drug-induced homicide for selling the heroin that led to a man’s fatal overdose in August, authorities said.
Christopher J. Carrera, 26, is also charged with selling heroin in connection with the Aug. 11 death of 22-year-old Mathew J. Parker, of Plainfield, according to Plainfield police.
They said officers responded to a call of a possible drug overdose at Parker’s home in the 16600 block of Winding Creek Road and found him “unresponsive and not breathing.”
After unsuccessful attempts to revive him with CPR, he was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet, where he was pronounced dead, according to police. An autopsy later determined that he died from a heroin overdose.
A police investigation determined that Parker had bought the heroin from Carrera, who lives in the 4500 block of Peacock Lane in Plainfield, on the night of Aug. 10 in the Joliet area, just hours prior to his death, according to police.
A warrant was issued for Carrera’s arrest Sept. 26. He was charged this week while being held in the DuPage County Jail on an unrelated charge, authorities said.
