BOLINGBROOK — Police are seeking a Joliet man for attempted murder after two men were shot at a party early Saturday.
Dominique D. Travis, 20, already faces charges for a Sept. 2 shooting in Joliet in which a man was wounded, police said.
Police Lt. Mike Rompa said an argument began about 12:20 a.m. between guests at a residence in the 100 block of Malibu Drive and turned into a physical fight that ended when a 20-year-old Bolingbrook man was shot in the chest and a 21-year-old Bolingbrook man was shot in the leg. He said the 20-year-old remains hospitalized, but both victims are expected to survive.
Rompa said it appears the argument started after some people were told to leave the party. Nearby patrol officers heard the shots and arrived to find several people running in different directions and a sport utility vehicle speeding away, he said.
Rompa said a police chase ensued after the driver refused to stop for police at Lake Shore Drive and Briarcliff Road, with the driver ramming a squad car before the pursuit moved onto Interstate 55. The chase ended in an unincorporated area near Joliet, where four men fled the SUV and three were caught, with Travis able to escape, he said.
The driver, Martez Doss, 21, of 9 Girard Blvd., Joliet, was charged with aggravated fleeing from police, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, vandalism and resisting arrest. Two of his passengers were questioned and released without being charged, police said.
They said Travis is charged with two counts of attempted murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest.
On Sept. 2, Travis allegedly fired shots at a group sitting on a concrete wall in the 200 block of North Broadway, hitting one man in the calf, according to Joliet police. They said Travis is charged with aggravated battery with a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon for that incident.
Records show Travis was arrested last month in Joliet for illegal gambling and is on parole from prison for a conviction for marijuana possession.
