Police Blotter: Robbery attempt leads to quick arrest

BOLINGBROOK — An 18-year-old man was charged with robbery and aggravated battery after allegedly mugging a man Sunday outside a convenience store, police said.
Lt. Mike Rompa said the victim walked out of Home Town Pantry, 128 N. Bolingbrook Drive, about 4:40 p.m., when two men came up behind him and tried to steal his cellphone and wallet before running away.
The man called police, who soon spotted a suspect matching the would-be robber’s description at the park district basketball courts and detained him.
Rompa said the victim identified the man, Angel. C. Velez, of 226 Bedford Road, as the person who tried to rob him.
Alleged DUI driver hits house
SHOREWOOD — A village resident faces charges after driving into a house early Saturday on Birch Drive, according to police.
Michael Boege, 21, of 521 Parkshore Drive, was charged with drunken driving and reckless driving.
Police said Boege kept driving where Shorewood Drive ends along Ridge Road and crashed into the back of a house on Birch Drive. No one was injured.

Jairo Alfaro: 26, of 39 E. 34th Place in Steger, was arrested by Will County sheriff’s police Wednesday for driving without a license.
Arturo M. Sanchez: 27, of 5310 S. Lawndale Ave., Chicago, was arrested by sheriff’s police Wednesday for driving with a suspended license.
Timothy Churnovic: 22, of 1200 Nicholson St., and Christoper Kocourek, 20, of 21457 W. Chestnut Lane, both of Plainfield, were arrested by Joliet police Wednesday on charges of drug possession.
Victor M. Gonzalez: 38, of 706 Williamson Ave., Joliet, was arrested by sheriff’s police Wednesday on a charge of driving without a license.
Richard J. Kane: 19, of 19248 Mansfield Lane in Mokena, was arrested by Mokena police Wednesday on charges of domestic battery and unlawful restraint.
Brandon D. Harrison: 37, of 1503 Brentwood Place, Joliet, was arrested by Joliet police Wednesday for failing to comply with the state’s sex offender registry requirements.
Demetrius Walker: 38, of 516 Jill Lane in Bolingbrook, was arrested by the Metropolitan Area Narcotics Squad Wednesday on a charge of selling drugs.
Michael Portillo: 29, of 9040 Kennedy Court in Orland Park, was arrested by Tinley Park police Wednesday on a charge of indecent solicitation of a minor.
Sean Frank: 24, of 22441 Strassburg Ave., Sauk Village, was arrested by sheriff’s police Wednesday for driving with a suspended license.
