PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP — A husband and wife told police they were attacked Oct. 5 by another couple whom they met on Craigslist, according to Will County sheriff’s police.
Officers were called about 3:30 a.m. to a home on Norwich Lane in the Lakewood Falls subdivision where a 44-year-old Plainfield man had been beaten, police said.
They said their investigation resulted in the homeowner, David M. Meyer, being charged with aggravated assault and battery.
The victim and his wife, 46, told police that they had spent the evening “meeting for drinks” with Meyer and his wife, both 34, after they had connected on the website.
At one point, the two men drove to a nearby gas station, and Meyer drove home without the other, according to police. They said the man was able to find a ride back to the house and found his wife outside.
“She was upset because both the (other) husband and wife had been touching her inappropriately,” the police report says.
The victims told police that Meyer then came out of the house and attacked the Plainfield man, punching him and knocking his head on the sidewalk. Police said the women also began scuffling, and witnesses called police.
After being taken into custody, Meyer was “hostile and aggressive” toward officers, police said.
They said the investigation into charges against the 34-year-old woman remains open.
