BOLINGBROOK — A second teenager has been charged in a robbery outside a convenience store Sunday afternoon, according to police.
Douglas E. Fagan, 17, of Bolingbrook, also has been charged with robbery in connection with another robbery last week, Lt. Mike Rompa said.
About 4:40 p.m. Sunday, a man walked out of Home Town Pantry, 128 N. Bolingbrook Drive, when two teens came up behind him and tried to take his cellphone and wallet before running away, Rompa said.
He said the man called police, gave a description of the robbers, and officers spotted Angel C. Velez, 18, at the park district basketball courts a short time later.
Velez, of 226 Bedford Road, Bolingbrook, was identified by the victim later that day and charged with robbery and aggravated battery, police said.
Rompa said further investigation identified Fagan as both Velez’s accomplice and a suspect in an Oct. 8 robbery outside Wal-Mart, 200 S. Bolingbrook Drive.
In that incident, a 42-year-old man was sitting outside the store about 10:30 p.m. when Fagan and Richard D. Poe, 17, of Bolingbrook, came up and grabbed his cellphone out of his hand and fled, police said.
Fagan, of 447 Yorkshire Square, and Poe, of 342 Evergreen Drive, were arrested Tuesday afternoon on robbery charges in the Oct. 8 incident, according to police.
