JOLIET — A man’s body was discovered in the Des Plaines River on Saturday.
Shortly after 5 p.m., a barge crew spotted the body floating north of the Interstate 80 bridge on the east side of the river, according to Fire Battalion Chief Ron Schroeder.
Firefighters used a boat and ropes to bring the body to the parking lot of the River Club bar where it was turned over to police around 5:45 p.m., Schroeder said.
Joliet police said there had been no reports of anyone jumping into the water Saturday.
The Will County Coroner’s office did not have the man’s identity available Saturday night.
