Will County’s Resource Recovery and Energy Division will receive an award for recycling during a Nov. 12 ceremony in St. Charles, according to a press release.
The division was named a winner in textile recycling company USAgain’s inaugural Green T awards for Outstanding Recycling Event, the release said.
The division, part of the county’s Land Use Department, is among 15 honorees in 12 categories at the ceremony next month, the release said.
Will County partnered with USAgain in May at the county office building in Joliet, the Green Apple Day event in Bolingbrook and Sharefest in New Lenox, Will County Recycling Specialist Marta Keane said in the release. It was the May event that won the award, according to the release.
Will County Health Department hosting ‘Get Covered Illinois’ event
The Will County Health Department is participating in a statewide effort this weekend to educate people about health insurance options available as part of the national Affordable Care Act.
On Saturday, the county agency is hosting an education booth with health department counselors to guide people through finding health care as part of the program. The booths are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Certified Warehouse Grocery Stores at 118 E. Jackson St., and 1225 Richards St., Joliet. For more information, call (815) 727-5990.
Will state’s attorney honored
The United Hellenic Voters of America honored Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow with the group’s Man of the Year Award at a dinner earlier this month.
“I cannot begin to express how thankful I am to the United Hellenic Voters of America for recognizing the important work the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office performs on behalf of our citizens,” Glasgow said in a press release. “I was pleased to receive this honor on behalf of the attorneys, secretaries, investigators and administrators, whose dedication and commitment to serving and protecting the public is unsurpassed.”
The group’s 39th awards banquet was held Oct. 20 in Addison.
