JOLIET — The Joliet Area Historical Museum received a $25,000 grant from Caesars Foundation to be used toward audio-visual improvement projects in both the museum auditorium and Route 66 Visitors Center, city officials announced.
A formal presentation of the grant award will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday with a reception in the museum’s Route 66 Visitors Center.
Caesars Foundation, the parent company of Harrah’s Joliet Casino and Hotel, will present the museum with the grant.
The program will recognize representatives from Harrah’s, the city and the museum. The reception is open to the public.
The museum’s audio-visual improvement project includes the installation of state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment in the auditorium and in the Route 66 Visitors Center.
In recognition of the Caesars Foundation’s support, the museum will name the auditorium’s performing stage the Caesars Foundation Stage.
In 2010, the museum and visitors center welcomed nearly 24,000 visitors from 37 states and 30 foreign countries, an increase of 11.5 percent over 2009, which was a 30 percent increase over the previous year.
