Lockport man killed in Joliet car crash

A Lockport motorist was killed early Thursday when the car he was driving crashed into a utility pole in Joliet.
Joliet police were called to a crash in the 1400 block of Illinois Route 59 in Joliet about 3:10 a.m., Joliet police Lt. Robert Desierto said.
Motorist Gage W. Epley, 18, of Lockport, was pronounced dead on the scene at 3:44 a.m., according to the Will County Coroner’s office.
Two people were in the southbound car when it left the road and struck a utility pole, Joliet police Lt. Jeff Allbert said. The car ultimately came to rest in a grassy area in front of an Auto Zone store.
The passenger was taken to Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet and was in “stable” condition early Thursday, Albert said.
Joliet police are investigating.
