Have opinion on state Senate districts?

Updated: September 27, 2011 12:15AM

YORKVILLE — The Illinois Senate’s redistricting committee will be in town Tuesday to get public input on revising congressional and state legislative districts.

The hearing is one of dozens being held around the state. Legislative districts are redrawn every 10 years following results from the decennial U.S. Census.

However the lines are drawn, the map is expected to pass quickly through the General Assembly and the governor’s office, all under Democratic control.

The Senate redistricting hearing is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday in the council chambers at Yorkville City Hall, 800 Game Farm Road. Those wishing to address the committee should send an e-mail to redistricting@senatedem.ilga.gov to reserve a place on the agenda.

Individuals not on the agenda also will be given the opportunity to speak.
