JOLIET — City Wide Clean Up Day brought residents into the streets Saturday to help spruce up Joliet.

This was the third year for the annual event and was expected to the be the biggest yet, according to event chairwoman Amy Sanchez. The Unity Community Development Corp., which works to improve life on the city’s East Side and near west side, runs the event.

Dozens of volunteers signed up and Waste Management donated garbage bags.

Clean-up efforts were organized in: Cathedral Area, St. John’s, St. Pat’s, Southside, Collins Street Area, Eastside, Parkwood, Forest Park, Reedswood and Preston Heights neighborhoods.
