County Line Road to close for work

PLAINFIELD — County Line Road, from Indian Boundary Road to Renwick Road, will be closed to all through traffic for 14 days beginning Monday. The closure is necessary for reconstruction and repaving. A detour will be posted.

The village received Illinois Department of Transportation Emergency Repair Program grant funds for the work.

Bicycle auction slated in Minooka

MINOOKA — Unclaimed bicycles recovered by the Rockdale Police Department will be available for bidding Saturday at the Minooka Police Bike Auction.

Bike viewing begins at 8 a.m. and the auctions starts at 9 a.m. at the Minooka department, 121 E. McEvilly Road.

Village of Rockdale residents can view Rockdale police bicycle entries from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Rockdale Police Department garage.

After the auction, the Minooka police will sponsor a bicycle rodeo of children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Trophies will be awarded.

Pet Adoption Day set in Romeoville

ROMEOVILLE — Abri Credit Union, at Weber and Renwick roads, will host a Pet Adoption Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Five local pet rescue organizations will have dogs and cats available for adoption. Visit www.abricu.com for links to the shelters and information on how to adopt.

Visitors can win prizes, including two tickets to White Sox, Cubs and Joliet Slammers games, during 98.3 WCCQ’s live broadcast.

There will also be free food and an inflatable for kids.
