JOLIET — Will County Executive Larry Walsh and U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger toured the Will County Community Health Center and its new mobile dental facility Monday.
The tour, which took place at the 1106 Neal Ave. community health center complex, is the local highlight of National Health Center Week. The initiative is designed to raise awareness about the mission and accomplishments of the more than 1,200 community health centers in all 50 states.
The centers provide health care services to more than 23 million people nationwide regardless of their ability to pay.
Will County’s new 40-foot single-body mobile dental van was recently completed by LifeLine Mobile of Columbus, Ohio. The facility features digital X-ray capabilities and two fully equipped dental chairs.
It will enable Will County Community Health Center dental professionals to offer services to at schools and community shelters to clients who might not otherwise have access to preventive and restorative dental services.
The van was funded through a grant from the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
“Will County is committed to addressing the needs of the uninsured and the under-insured residents in our communities,” said Walsh.
