Provena staff named top docs

JOLIET — When US News & World Report released its list of “Top Doctors,” Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center executives were proud to claim 31 medical staff members among those in the group.

“We already knew that our physicians are among the best in the state,” said Beth Hughes, president and CEO of Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center.

Provena also was listed as high-performing in nine specialties.

“This is an accomplishment that is shared with every member of our staff,” added Hughes.

Included in the magazine’s listing of “Top Docs” were the following: Gilda Alcala, pediatrician; Frederick Alexander, infectious disease; Rudolph Altergott, thoracic surgeon; Eric Bass, colon and rectal surgeon; Suresh Bhalla, gastroenterologist; Lucy Canaday, family medicine; Eugene Chiu, cardiologist; Robert Daley, orthopedic surgeon; Mark Danielson, surgeon; Daniele DeGirolami, cardiologist; Frances Deppe, psychiatrist; John Dongas, cardiologist; Bryan Foy, thoracic surgeon; Michael Gartlan, ENT-otolaryngologist; Surrendra Gulati, neurologist; Holly Gunderson, surgeon; Matthew Kelleher, dermatologist; Dennis Killian, cardiologist; Theresa Majka-Kravets, nephrologist; Wendy Marshall, surgeon; Seif Martini, cardiologist; Kathleen McCahill, neurologist; Thomas Moore, pediatrics; David Morimoto, ophthalmologist; Sarode Pundaleeka, hematologist; Robert W.
