County to offer testing for correctional officers

County corrections exam offered

JOLIET — The Will County Sheriff’s office will begin testing for correctional officers with a written exam Feb. 11. Up to 400 applications will be accepted, but must be turned in by Feb. 2. Go to the employment page at www.willcosheriff.org. Applicants must be U.S. citizens without felony convictions. They must have a driver’s license and a high school diploma or equivalent and be 21 years old by the hiring date. Applications and a $25 processing fee paid by check should be sent to Will County Sheriff’s Merit Commission, 57 N. Ottawa St. Suite 502, Joliet, IL 60432.

Fashion show scheduled

JOLIET — Models are scheduled to show off new fashion Wednesday at Al’s Steakhouse, 1990 W. Jefferson St. Cable TV talk show host Diana Stonitsch is organizing The Ministry of Fashion show, scheduled from noon to 1:30 p.m. The public is invited.

MLK holiday Monday

JOLIET — This week will have regularly scheduled garbage and recycling pickup despite the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. City Hall will be closed in observance of the holiday. Also Monday, use of the parking decks will be free and there will not be enforcement of parking meters.

‘Let’s get organized’

JOLIET — The Joliet Christian Women’s Club will have a ladies breakfast from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Moose Banquet Hall, 25 Springfield Ave. Cost is $12.
