Bowling fundraiser to help injured Oswego Marine

A bowling fundraiser
for Lance Cpl. Kyle Moser, the Oswego Marine who lost both legs and part of his right hand from a bomb explosion in Afghanistan, will be at 1 p.m. March 18 at Parkside Lanes, 34W185 Montgomery Road,
Aurora.

Organized by Valley Fire Protection, the event will feature an afternoon of bowling as well as an auction and raffle.

Prizes so far include a Chicago Bears autographed item, Chicago sports and amusement park tickets, electronics, gift baskets and certificates. But the sponsors are looking for more items to auction to financially help Moser and his family when he returns from Walter Reed Hospital in Bethesda, Md., where he is recovering from the injuries he sustained the week of Thanksgiving.

Moser is a 2010 graduate of Oswego High School and celebrated his 20th birthday and first anniversary in the Army hospital with his wife, Alex, a graduate of Rosary High School, as well as his parents, Patricia Zander of Oswego and Bob Moser of Yorkville.

Kyle Moser, who also was injured by a roadside bomb weeks before he lost his legs in this second explosion, was awarded two Purple Hearts in December while in the trauma care department of the medical center.

All proceeds from the event will help the young Marine when he returns home.

The cost to bowlers is $25 for those 12 and older; and $15 for junior bowlers younger than 12. Checks are payable to: Benefit for Lance Cpl. Kyle Moser.

Cost includes three games of bowling, shoe rental, pizza buffet and soft drinks.
