Engine fire damages garage

JOLIET — An engine fire damaged an SUV and a garage Monday night.
Firefighters extinguished the small fire around 8:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of Richards Street. The fire caused minor damage to the garage it was parked next to, reports said. The owner said the vehicle recently had electrical problems.
Police news in brief:
On Friday, a black woman and three black men were seen loading boxes into a Ford Taurus in the 500 block of Harwood Street in Joliet Township. A safe, two large-screen television sets, an iPod and a laptop computer were reported stolen from a residence around the same time.
On Saturday, two people cut the catalytic converters from eight vans parked in the lot at J&M Truck Rental, 2427 Plainfield Road in Joliet Township. Will County Sheriff’s police said the lot is monitored by security cameras.

Vincent Turner: 33, of 513 Elmwood Ave. in Joliet, was arrested by sheriff’s police and booked into the county jail Monday on a charge of driving on a suspended license.
Jerod D. Doss: 17, of 1018 Summit St. in Joliet, was arrested by Joliet police and booked into the county jail Monday on a charge of aggravated battery.
Derrick D. Williams-Scott: 23, of 124 Earl Ave. in Joliet, was arrested by Joliet police and booked into the county jail Monday on charges of theft, aggravated domestic battery, interfering with reporting domestic violence and unlawful restraint.
Matthew M. Morris: 22, of 430 Logue Circle in Seneca, was arrested by sheriff’s police and booked into the county jail Monday on a charge of theft.
Eduardo Rico: 25, of 706 Second Ave. in Joliet, was arrested by Lockport police and booked into the county jail Monday on a charge of obstructing justice.
Panagiotis D. Gyftakis: 20, of 1800 Chestnut Hill Road in Plainfield, was arrested by Plainfield police and booked into the county jail Monday on a charge of narcotics possession.
Joseph L. Ledesma: 24, of 618 Meadow Ave. in Rockdale, was arrested by state police and booked into the county jail Tuesday on charges of narcotics possession, cannabis possession and driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
Justin J. Colunga: 21, of 540 Scribner St. in Joliet, was arrested by Lockport police and booked into the county jail Tuesday on a charge of burglary.
