ROMEOVILLE — Police say two men lured a pizza deliveryman to a house and attacked him with a rubber mallet Tuesday night.
Allen L. Freeman, 20, of 1232 Santa Fe Road and William C. Whitford, 18, of 546 Maggie Lane, have been charged with aggravated robbery.
Assistant Chief Steve Lucchesi said the 32-year-old victim was called around 9:30 p.m. to a house in the 500 block of Frieh Drive.
“There was no answer at the house and as he returned to his car, he was approached by two men who demanded money. Whitford jumped and held him while Freeman struck him with a rubber mallet,” Lucchesi said.
The pair allegedly took about $100, a cell phone and pizzas. The victim was treated at the hospital for head and torso injuries.
“Evidence of pizza” led to Whitford’s residence, and the phone number from that home was used to order the pizza, Lucchesi said.
Whitford reportedly admitted to the robbery and led police to Freeman.
