Fire damages apartment in Joliet

JOLIET — A kitchen fire damaged an apartment Saturday afternoon.
Battalion Chief LaRoy Aldredge said no one was injured when the fire began around 4:30 p.m. on the second floor of a building in the 400 block of Kungs Way.
“The fire was contained to the kitchen, but there was smoke and water damage throughout the unit,” he said. Firefighters were at the scene for about an hour.
