Man accused of threatening to kill girlfriend

Updated: March 14, 2012 8:15AM

JOLIET — A man who allegedly stuck a gun in his girlfriend’s mouth while she accompanied him from Indianapolis to an intermodal center has been arrested.

James J. Warner, 62, had been sought by police since early Wednesday for threatening the 40-year-old woman as they fought while driving Warner’s semi-tractor to make a pickup, police said.

According to reports, Warner pulled out a gun and struck her in the head before putting it in her mouth and threatening to kill her. The victim was able to distract Warner and throw the weapon out the window when they arrived at the intermodal.

Warner was booked into the Will County jail Saturday on a charge of aggravated unlawful restraint. Records show Warner was released Sunday after posting $10,000 bond.
