LOCKPORT — A 70-year-old man was found neglected and sleeping on the stairs of his son’s home Sunday, reports said.
Lockport Township firefighters were brought to 1802 S. State St. by a 911 call around 2 p.m.
According to reports, Donald F. Chaney, 41, made the call because his father was unable to get up.
“He appeared to be in poor condition, wearing just a diaper and weighing under 100 pounds,” Deputy Fire Chief John Kure said.
“Poor condition” would also describe the inside of the residence.
The house reportedly contained a significant amount of trash.
An ambulance transported the senior to a hospital.
His condition was not known Monday.
Police Lt. Dave Draksler said officers spoke with the residents and other relatives.
After those interviews, Chaney was arrested on charges of criminal neglect of an elderly person, failure to perform the duties of a caregiver and obstructing police.
