Police blotter: Man dies after crash with semi truck

GRUNDY COUNTY — A man injured in a collision with a semi truck Wednesday afternoon has died.
Robert McCullough, 84, of Morris, died at 2:25 p.m. Wednesday in Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, according to a spokeswoman for DuPage County Coroner Pete Siekmann.
An autopsy was performed Thursday, the spokeswoman said. Preliminary findings indicated McCullough sustained “multiple traumatic injuries” in the crash, she said.
McCullough was driving a minivan around 12:45 p.m. the on Route 47 when he struck an oncoming semi-tractor in front of the Saratoga Township building, just north of Nelson Road.
The truck burst into flames, but the driver was able to get out. She was taken to Morris Hospital and her injuries were considered non-life-threatening.
An elderly woman who had been a passenger in the minivan was also able to get out on her own and hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Home destroyed in blaze
NEW LENOX — Fire destroyed a 100-year-old home early Thursday.
No one was home when firefighters were called to the blaze at 2:54 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Cedar Road. The cause of the fire was under investigation Thursday as Cedar was closed between Francis Road and Route 6.
Gun shop accident reported
COAL CITY — A man reportedly shot himself in the leg outside a gun shop Wednesday.
Police Chief Tom Best said officers were called at 10:08 a.m. to find Kenneth M. Nading Jr. bleeding in front of Sparkle Laundromat, 692 E. Division St.
“Mr. Nading had accidentally fired one round from a .38-caliber handgun into his leg while he attempted to unload the weapon prior to entering the adjoining gun shop,” Best said.
Nading was taken to Morris Hospital for medical treatment. Reports noted the Grundy County state’s attorney’s office has been advised of the incident.

Shaquille C. Barrow: 17, of 221 Barr Elms Ave. in Joliet, was arrested by Joliet police and booked into the county jail Tuesday on a charge of residential burglary.
Arin Campbell: 28, of 812 Eunice Ave. in Joliet, was arrested by sheriff’s police and booked into the county jail Tuesday on a charge of driving on a suspended license.
Jesus Hernandez-Ramirez: 40, of 514 Summit St. in Joliet, was arrested by the Metropolitan Area Narcotics Squad and booked into the county jail Tuesday on a charge of narcotics trafficking.
