OpenLine: The Bible says it’s so

Updated: May 28, 2012 8:26AM

This is response to the April 15 OpenLine where Fran Fallon and George Gaspar want to know where it’s quoted in the Bible about working. Paul said in Second Thessalonians 3:10: “If a man will not work he shall not eat.” That’s the passage they’re looking for.

Feed only those who work

In the Bible, Second Thessalonians, Chapter 3, Verse 6 to 10, the Apostle Paul says if a man will not work he shall not eat. It’s obvious Fran Fallon, George Gaspar and Dawn McDonough are not very familiar with their Bible. Religious liberals treat the bible the same way political liberals treat the Constitution. They cling to the parts that serve their agenda and ignore the parts that don’t. Feed the hungry who can’t work, not those who won’t. This charge was given to the church, not to the government.

His music will be missed

I am struck with profound sadness upon hearing that Nick Thomas, director of music at the Cathedral of St. Raymond, will be leaving in June. For over 26 years, Nick has been responsible for the exceptional music performed by the choirs and the orchestra at the cathedral. His professionalism and talent will be sorely missed by everyone who ever had the pleasure of attending one of the liturgies or concerts which he organized and directed. A truly beautiful and artistic era is passing away in Joliet.
