This is in regard to Justine Panieri’s Common Sense on April 26. I’d like to see her walk through the East Side at 7:30 or 8 p.m. and see whether she believes racism works both ways. I guarantee you: She wouldn’t feel safe and she would not like where she was at.

Cut your own pay first
If Gov. Pat Quinn wants to make cuts in Illinois, let’s cut in half the pay of elected officials in Springfield. Make them pay for their insurance and eliminate the retirement benefits.

Make abortion illegal
Fran Fallon’s suggestion that Republicans petition the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade would work better without a pro-abortion president appointing pro-abortion judges. The court allowed abortion based on not knowing when life begins and said if personhood for the unborn is established then the case collapses. We now know from science that life begins at conception. The baby is a unique person with DNA different from the mother’s DNA. Ultrasound proves the baby is fully human and feels pain at week 20. The Supreme Court’s ruling should be overturned.

Bush was not an idiot
Once again our liberal friends are being hypocritical. Only 50 percent of the security advisers thought the United States could take out Osama bin Laden, yet President Barack Obama decided to go anyway. Now they laud him as a hero. However, when George Bush was president, 50 percent of the CIA analysts thought that Iraq either had nuclear weapons or had the ability to create nuclear weapons. They consider Bush an idiot.

Buy American sneakers
If you are serious about buying American then you must be wearing New Balance sneakers. They are the only sneakers made in America. If you are buying anything else then you are contributing to the demise of our last American sneaker manufacturer. Look for the letter N on sneakers for patriotism.
