OpenLine: No free ride for teachers

Updated: July 23, 2012 6:49AM

There is an inaccuracy in reporting that all people who receive state pension programs get free health insurance. My wife and I are both former educators. We have to pay the majority of our health insurance through the teachers’ retirement insurance program. To keep reporting that people on state pensions get free health insurance is totally inaccurate.

Left-wingers are the Nazis

An OpenLine caller made reference to Nazis when talking about Republicans, even though it’s the agenda of the left that runs just about parallel to that ideology. If people can’t see that, it’s time to open your eyes. If you put a picture of David Axelrod next to a picture of the evil and murderous dictator from the ’30s and ’40s — which no one wants to mention when it pertains to Democrats — Eva Braun wouldn’t know with whom to sleep with.

Illinois needs Scott Walker

Illinois is spending money we don’t have on projects of questionable need like a third airport and a Joliet transportation center. They failed to reform the extravagant government pension system, yet they cut back on Medicaid and social service agencies. Illinois has raised taxes, owes $8.5 billion in unpaid bills, has lost jobs and has a big deficit. By contrast, Wisconsin Gov. (Scott) Walker has added jobs, replaced a deficit with a surplus and reduced taxes. Illinois needs a conservative Republican government.
