Support strikers

The attacks on union workers at Caterpillar are outrageous. Before you start picking on unions and calling them whiney, why do you go to work for these wages and then call these people whiney. Caterpillar is making record profits. They are giving employees raises in other countries. But they are laughing at their employees here. God bless union workers, especially the ones at Caterpillar. Please don’t give in, guys.

Conservatives led astray

Political pundits have been quoting polls that show white working-class males are continuing to rally behind the Republican tea party banner. Surely, the white working-class must know that conservatives are devoted to reducing or eliminating the very social programs that the working class is dependent upon for its economic survival. The working class cannot want this. They are willing participants in a cause that is not in their best interests. Previously, workers were guided in political matters by their unions. Now they are listening to conservative-supported millionaire television and radio commentators who are leading them astray.

Protecting our interests

As a nation, we can give millions in foreign aid to corrupt governments all over the globe and call it protecting our nation’s interests. Romneycare — which was a model for the passage of Obamacare — should also be viewed as protecting our national interest. It’s protecting our people’s health.

Summer events wonderful

Joliet has such wonderful summertime events. We have so much to be blessed for in the Joliet area with so many events for families, friends and guests to our area. There is such wonderful entertainment.

Cleanup help praised

Thank you to Plainfield Township Highway Commissioner Sam Reichert and the highway department. They were out first thing in the morning cleaning up all of the tree limbs. Also, my complements go to ComEd. The amount of damage was tremendous. They cleaned up and got the power back on in 48 hours. That is an exceptional job for them. Thank you to all for your service during the recent power outages and storm damage.

Obama’s fault

Anyone who votes for President Obama wants the largest tax increase in American history and has a total disregard for what America was. Obama favors countries that are in total chaos. That is what he wants for America. Look what America has become already.

Quit crying, thank Obama

President Obama has been just what this country ordered. Without him we wouldn’t have caught Osama bin Laden, General Motors wouldn’t have become the No. 1 auto maker in the world, we wouldn’t be recovering from the Bush recession and the war his predecessor started wouldn’t be coming to a responsible end. Republicans should quit crying and just thank Obama.

Power to the people

We the people control our government by the people we elect to pass our laws, not by nine justices who have and will eventually again abuse their power.
