OpenLine: Don’t abolish unions

Updated: October 9, 2012 2:17PM

Union are a good thing for our country. I highly disagree with the comment that unions are all bad now. The ideas of unions are not bad. The ideas created back in the 1800s are good. I don’t think those ideals should be forgotten. If you think unions are bad then let’s work together and make it right. Let’s make it what it should be, not abolish it.

Our moral decadence

We struggled to sit through a disturbing movie called “The Campaign.” There were vulgar expletives spoken by 10-year-old kids, explicit references to body features, fluids and functions and the blaspheming of the entire Lord’s Prayer. Acceptance of these types of movies is being the norm. It’s very bad for us as a nation. It’s just another example of our moral decadence.

Corporations destroy

Does anyone still believe that we are an honest society? Our elected officials are as corrupt as any third-world country. Few people have confidence in prosecutors. Greed has taken over the business community. Corporate responsibility to the employees, community or even the country has been thrown out in favor of personal wealth for the few. The financial bailout was necessary. But, too much of it went to bonuses for the officers and lobbyists. Corporations destroyed the environment in the name of a few extra dollars. It’s odd that green is the color of money, envy and therefore greed.
